A memorial servivce for Robert Hohnke will be held Sunday, Dec. 11 at 11 a.m. in Johnson Center's main gym. Hohnke was a physical education teaching assistant and doctoral student in the College of Education's Health, Exercise & Sports Sciences Department who died Tuesday, Dec. 6. On Saturday, Dec. 10 at 8 p.m., a 'Pack the Pool' memorial will be held in Seidler Natatorium where favorite memories and stories of "German Rob" will be shared.

Hohnke, 30, who taught swimming, jogging and weight-training classes at UNM for the past three years, died Tuesday in a weather-related automobile accident near Farmington. Hohnke and two passengers were heading to Durango for a day of snowboarding when the accident occurred. Hohnke was taken off life support Tuesday after he was unresponsive at San Juan Regional Medical Center.

A memorial fund has been established in Hohnke's memory through New Mexico Educators Federal Credit Union. Donations may also be dropped off in the main office of the Health, Exercise and Sports Science in Johnson Center to Department Administrator Deborah Jiron.
