Howard (Ward) Hickey, Jr., professor at UNM's Anderson School of Management, died Wednesday, Feb. 22 in Albuquerque. A treasured faculty member, Hickey came to UNM's Anderson School in 2000 where he taught banking courses and was the liaison between the Anderson School and the banking community. Hickey was not just an educator, he acted as an advisor, a mentor and a friend to his students and faculty and staff.
"Howard was a source of positive energy and a spark of inspiration to a generation of students and to all of us," said Anderson Dean Doug Brown. "We will endeavor to fill the emptiness left by his passing with memories of all the joy he brought to our lives."
A memorial service for Hickey will be held Monday, Feb. 27 at 4 p.m. at French Funerals located at 10500 Lomas Blvd., NE. A reception will follow. Hickey's family has invited all of his Anderson and UNM family to attend.
The Anderson School of Management will honor Hickey with a memorial at UNM later this year.
