The Men of Color Initiative (MOCI) at UNM hosts a workshop titled “Unconscious Bias and Microaggressions,” on Oct. 5. The workshop will be held in the Dean of Students Conference Room, UAEC from 12 – 1 p.m. Lunch will be provided.
Presented by Associate Dean of the University College Sonia Gipson-Rankin, the workshop helps answer the following questions:
- Where does unconscious bias come from?
- What are Microaggressions?
- How are you supposed to react when they happen?
- How do I deal with people who think it is all made up?
The Men of Color Initiative (MOCI) is a project of the Division for Equity and Inclusion and the Office of Student Academic Success that focuses on educational success for men of color. MOCI is a community-based research project led by Asian/Pacific Islander, Black, Latino, Native and other men of color students organizing together with campus and community partners to increase access and success for men of color in education.
