This week, New Mexico in Focus presents memorable interviews from past shows. The highlight interviews include Hank Shaw, Karen Coates, Stephen Pastis and Holly Holm.

The program airs Friday nights at 7 p.m. on channel 5.1 and appears online on the NMiF website shortly thereafter. The show rebroadcasts Saturday at 5 p.m. on channel 9.1 and again on Sunday at 7 a.m. on channel 5.1.

  • Hunter, cook and author Hank Shaw sits down with Gwyneth Doland to talk about the connection between gathering or hunting your own food and the environment.
  • Local author Karen Coates and photographer Jerry Redfern share insights gained from their reporting in Laos that led to the book “Eternal Harvest: The Legacy of American Bombs in Laos.”
  • Cartoonist Stephan Pastis, creator of "Pearls Before Swine," talks with Megan Kamerick about influences in the world of professional cartoons and how he got into the business.
  • Boxer and MMA fighter Holly Holm, who grew up in Albuquerque and is now a top competitor in the field of Mixed Martial Arts, talks about what it feels like to compete and how she finds balance in her life.
