On this week’s episode of New Mexico in Focus, correspondents talk with community members about citizenship for immigrant children, gun ownership. Host Gene Grant and The Line opinion panelists also discuss the outcome of the New Mexico primary elections.

New Mexico PBS’ one-hour public affairs show New Mexico in Focus regularly airs Fridays at 7 p.m. and repeats Sundays at 7 a.m. on Channel 5.1, and Saturdays at 5 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m. on Channel 9.1, except during Pledge Drives. Correspondent Stan Wilson will speak with UNM graduate student Cindy Nava, who was brought  into the United States illegally as a child, to talk about the federal Consideration of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals Program (DACA). The program was created by President Obama by executive order, helping many children, including Nava, become approved residents in the U.S. Wilson will talk with Eva Eitzen from the New Mexico Immigrant Law Center about the program and what could become of it as the Obama Administration enters its final months.

This week, New Mexico in Focus will continue its month-long series regarding gun ownership. Correspondent Gwyneth Doland sits down with members of the New Mexico Intimate Partner Violence Death Review Team to discuss the role of guns in deaths involving romantic partners.
