This week on New Mexico in Focus, Jeff Byrd, Republican candidate for N. M.'s 3rd Congressional District, sits down for a one-on-one conversation about his political priorities and his campaign to represent New Mexico in the U.S. Congress.

New Mexico PBS' one hour public affairs show New Mexico in Focus airs Fridays at 7 p.m. and Sundays at 7 a.m. on Channel 5.1. The show can also be seen on New Mexico PBS Channel 9.1 on Saturdays at 5 p.m.

The opinion panel discusses the resignation of New Mexico State University's president, Barbara Couture, and the nearly half-million-dollar payout she will receive, and a look at the unrest in N.M.'s Department of Health and why that may or may not have led to the resignation of Secretary Catherine Torres. Plus, the group's take on the first of the presidential debates.
