This week New Mexico in Focus takes a look at the progress being made during the New Mexico Legislature's special session, which is well into its second week. The bickering has begun and Democrats, who control both the House and Senate, say they'll deal with redistricting first and Gov. Susana Martinez' agenda after that - if at all. Republicans have taken up the governor's cause and have openly criticized what they feel is a strategy by Democrats to run out the clock on the special session.

KNME's one hour public affairs show New Mexico in Focus airs Fridays at 7 p.m. and Sundays at 6:30 a.m. on KNME, Channel 5.1. The show can also be seen on KNME's Digital Channel 9.1 on Saturdays at 5 p.m.

Other topics include a discussion by Correspondent Gwyneth Doland with one of the most outspoken lawmakers Albuquerque Republican Nate Gentry. A talk with Democratic Speaker of the House Ben Lujan will follow. Host Gene Grant discusses the same issue with The Line panelists, who take a broad look at all the action in Santa Fe.

Grant will also talk one-on-one with former New Mexico Governor Gary Johnson. The Republican is running for president, but has been left out of the last two debates. Johnson has some harsh words for the Republican establishment.

Finally, on the heels of TEDxABQ, big thinkers in Los Alamos are set to roll out the Next Big Idea Festival. The two-day event brings students, artists, inventors and more to the table to talk about planting the seeds of great ideas in New Mexico and getting them to grow. Organizers and participants preview the festival with NMiF Host Gene Grant.
