This week on New Mexico in Focus, host Gene Grant and a special Line opinion panel of local journalists begin a countdown of the top stories of 2017. They discuss five of those topics this week, including the veto showdown at the Roundhouse and the impact of President Trump’s administration on New Mexico during the past year.

Additionally, correspondent Antonia Gonzales sits down with two experts who delve into the histories of both early New Mexico and Florida. Aimee Villarreal was a producer and researcher on an animated film about the historic Pueblo Revolt of 1680 in New Mexico. Kathleen Deagan is an anthropologist and archeologist whose work is featured in a documentary about Spanish Florida.

The documentary, Secrets Of Spanish Florida: A Secrets of the Dead, will air on New Mexico PBS Ch.5.1, on Dec. 26, at 7 p.m.

NMiF regularly airs Fridays at 7 p.m. and repeats Sundays at 7 a.m. on Channel 5.1, and Saturdays at 5 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m. on Channel 9.1, except during pledge drives.
