This week’s New Mexico in Focus Producer Sarah Gustavus interviews documentary editor Paul Barnes, a Santa Fe resident who is one of the editors of the Ken Burns epic 10-part, 18-hour series The Vietnam War, which begins airing on NM PBS, Ch.5.1, Sunday. Sept. 17 at 7 p.m.

The longtime Burns’ collaborator talks about how the project came together and discusses the impact of the war that still reverberates in American society.

Additionally, Correspondent Megan Kamerick sits down with the candidates in district 1 in this year’s city council races in Albuquerque.

Finally, NMiF Host Gene Grant and the Line opinion panelists reflect on the legacy of Senator Pete Domenici, who passed away this week. Elected to the U.S. Senate in 1972, he retired in 2009 as the longest running senator from the state of New Mexico.

The Line panelists also look at protests that occurred during last week’s Entrada re-enactment in Santa Fe, and discuss the upcoming ABQ mayoral race. Early voting starts this week in Albuquerque.

NMiF regularly airs Fridays at 7 p.m. and repeats Sundays at 7 a.m. on Channel 5.1 and Saturdays at 5 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m. on Channel 9.1, except during pledge drives.
