This week on New Mexico in Focus (NMIF), correspondent Gwyneth Doland speaks with Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham about the ongoing legislative session and asks how her favored bills are faring in the Roundhouse. NMIF then turns attention to a high-profile pretrial detention bill that died before reaching a full Senate or House vote. Lujan Grisham tells NMIF us that some version of the bill might find life again during this year's session. Additionally, NMIF breaks down support and opposition for the bill with District Attorney Sam Bregman and State Sen. Peter Wirth.

Executive Producer Jeff Proctor asks reporters Elise Kaplan of City Desk ABQ and the Albuquerque Journal's Matt Reisen for an update on the ongoing FBI investigation of the Albuquerque Police Department’s DWI unit. It's a fast-moving story with updates nearly every day, so NMIF asks the reporters to break down what is known, as well as what the future might bring from this explosive story.

Plus, Our Land’s Laura Paskus sits down with Proctor and previews her environmental coverage for 2024, as she reports on the ways climate change continues to throw new obstacles our state's way and how New Mexicans can adapt.

NMiF airs on NMPBS 5.1 (KNME HD) on Friday, Feb. 2 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 4 at 7 a.m., and streaming on the PBS video app.
