The University of New Mexico is looking to hire Lobos interested in joining the long-standing tradition that welcomes new students into the Pack, New Student Orientation (NSO).

The NSO Program provides a campus leadership opportunity for all UNM students. Student leaders participate and help lead more than 20 orientation programs throughout the summer, welcoming thousands of new Lobos to campus.

Benefits to becoming a NSO leader:
  • Gain skills in leadership, public speaking, managing groups, organization, teaching and facilitation
  • Network with UNM departments, student organizations and the community
  • Free summer housing at the UNM residence halls
In response to COVID-19 and the University’s efforts to ‘flatten the curve,’ NSO Director, Jose Villar, and his team were tasked with developing a new and virtual orientation for incoming students and their families, NSO... To Go!

Villar said orientation programming for Summer 2021 is expected to be hosted virtually. As the summer approaches and conditions allow, the team will consider offering supplemental in-person experiences.

Students interested in applying to become a NSO Leader must be a current student and attending UNM in the fall.
