Open Enrollment for The University of New Mexico’s medical, dental, vision, accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D), life insurance, short-term and long-term disability plans, along with the VEBA Opt-Out period, begins Wednesday, April 26 and ends Friday, May 12, 2017.

Open Enrollment is UNM’s annual opportunity for employees to enroll, cancel and or make changes to your insurance plans without experiencing a Qualifying Change of Status event. Changes during Open Enrollment for medical, dental and vision plans must be made through LoboWeb.

Benefits election changes made during Open Enrollment will be effective July 1, 2017.

If you do not make changes during this Open Enrollment period, your current benefits elections will continue for the 2017 – 2018 plan year.

VEBA Opt-Out
The VEBA applies to faculty and staff employed in a benefits-eligible position between June 30, 2013 and June 30, 2015. Current VEBA participants have the opportunity to opt-out of VEBA contributions during the open enrollment period with an effective date of July 1, 2017.

Opting out of VEBA participation is only permitted during this period, and results in the loss of any applicable grandfathered VEBA service credit and forfeiture of access to UNM Post-Retirement Benefits.

Going Green!
Open Enrollment materials for active employees will be posted online this year to reduce the costs and environmental impact of producing and mailing printed materials.

Beginning April 26, 2017, visit the Open Enrollment webpage for details about FY18 changes, how to make changes to your benefits, FY18 premium rates, vendor sessions, how to opt out of VEBA, and other important information related to Open Enrollment.

Come to a Vendor Fair
Representatives from UNM Health, BlueCross BlueShield, Presbyterian, Delta Dental, VSP, Express Scripts, and Standard Insurance will be on hand to answer questions.
