Peter Pabisch appears at the UNM Bookstore Tuesday, Nov. 10 at 12 p.m. to perform a reading in English of the Libretto to Falko Steinbach’s opera, “Berlin Suite: A Sound Bath.” Pabisch will discuss and sign copies of his libretto. This event is open to the public.

A humanist and educator, Pabisch is an expert in cultural and international studies, having concentrated particularly on trans-atlantic relations, with a specialty in German/European affairs, and in literature and languages. In 1975, he co-founded the German Summer School of New Mexico in Taos as a professor of foreign languages and literatures at UNM, where he has taught for over 30 years.

An Austrian native, Pabisch was educated in Austria and the United States, and holds an MA and a Ph.D. from the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana as well as from the University of Vienna. He has taught and lectured in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Greece, the Netherlands, England, Finland, Japan and Mexico.  He has published and edited 30 scholarly and creative books in both English and German, including his own poetry and sketches, as well as over 200 scholarly articles, essays, and reviews.
