The Physical Plant Department Ford Utilities Center will test and tune controls on two gas fired boilers beginning March 7 through March 10.

These tests may require the venting of steam from the system into the atmosphere in order to reach high output levels for upper range data collection and calibration purposes. The venting of steam may, at times, lead to increase in sound levels generated in the vicinity of the plant. These loud sounds will be intermittent and last for about 20-30 minutes each time. The sound of venting steam may be noticeable and cause some concern due to their unusual nature, but be assured these tests are normal and a routine part of keeping UNM Utilities operating correctly and efficiently.

If you have questions about these tests, please contact Tom Davis at 277-2465 or by email at Tdavis1@unm.edu.
