The University of New Mexico International Studies Institute, the Department of History and Latin American & Iberian Institute present "Bedtime and Other Stories from the President's Guest House" with Benedicte Valentiner Thursday, April 19 from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. at the Latin American & Iberian Institute.
Valentiner's behind the scenes experiences managing one of the world's most prestigious, historic and beautiful official government guest houses provides unique background on the fascinating history of Blair House. She discusses the multimillion dollar restoration it underwent in the 1980's, and shares her recollections of welcoming heads of state and other official visitors to the U.S. from around the world.
For more than 13 years, Valentiner hosted nearly 200 official visits of foreign presidents, prime ministers, kings and queens. Her personal anecdotes about the world's most powerful leaders are dramatic, revealing and entertaining.
