The student chapter of UNM’s American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) recently received second place in the ASME Innovative Additive Manufacturing 3D (IAM3D) Challenge

The national competition provides an opportunity for mechanical engineering and multidisciplinary undergraduates to re-engineer existing products or create new designs. Students are evaluated on their creativity, ingenuity, application of engineering design principles, and utilization of additive manufacturing technologies.

The UNM team’s winning project were drones that performed various tasks, such as flying and picking up a cube.
