There’s a new tool on the block to help incoming and returning Lobos register for classes. Over the summer, the UNM Office of Enrollment, Office of the Registrar and Information Technologies launched College Scheduler, and are encouraging Lobos to use it for their Spring registration. It’s a planning tool to help students build conflict-free schedules with just a few clicks of a button.
“A lot of our students are juggling classes, work, family life and social commitments – this is one way we hope to help streamline the scheduling process so they can get the most out of their college experience,” said Dan Garcia, UNM vice president of Enrollment Management.
To use College Scheduler, students plug in the course numbers (remote or in-person) they want to take during the upcoming semester and the program gives them all the possible schedule options. Students can also input other scheduling variables like work, lunch, or commute time – College Scheduler will also take those into account when curating options.
“This will considerably cut down on the time it will take for students to build their schedules and will eliminate the need for paper and pencil scheduling,” Garcia explained. “By creating multiple, side-by-side schedule comparisons, Lobos will be able to quickly see what options work best for them.”
College Scheduler will also be an asset for advisors who are on the frontline making sure students are getting into the classes they need to complete their degrees. The tool that will go hand-in-hand with practices already in place and will help expedite the process. College Scheduler does not cross reference pre-requisites or co-requisites, so advisors and students will still have to be cognizant of those requirements. At this time, the tool is not connected to the LoboWeb registration portal.
If you are a current student and need to register you can go to LoboWeb, click Student, then Registration and Records. There is a link to College Scheduler within Loboweb, as well as a video tutorial.
