October 28, 2010
Be one of the first to experience the University of New Mexico's newly-renovated Pit during an open house and ribbon cutting ceremony Monday, Nov. 1 from 3:30 to 7 p.m. The free event tips off with practice of UNM's back-to-back Mountain West Conference Championship men's basketball team.
UNM students will be allowed to watch the practice an hour earlier than the general public beginning at 2:30. Students must enter through the "Students Only" entrance at the northeast corner and show their student ID. The general public can watch practice beginning at 3:30 p.m. The practice ends at 4:30 p.m.
Afterward, the re-dedication / ribbon cutting portion of the ceremony gets underway at 5 p.m. with a host of VIPs including Regents Jamie Koch and Raymond Sanchez, Gov. Bill Richardson, Albuquerque Mayor Richard Berry, and men's and women's head coaches Steve Alford and Don Flanagan.
The event concludes with an open house from 6 to 7 p.m. where fans can tour the Pit, purchase Lobo gear at the new Lobo Den Store and find your current seats. If you don't have season tickets yet, you'll have the opportunity to select your seat for men's and women's basketball season tickets.
Also as part of the festivities, UNM will unveil its new Scavenger Hunt application. For a related story visit: Scavenger Hunt.
