Roth was invited to be a member of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Public Health Emergency Advisory Council, and was a member of the joint Dept of Homeland Security and Dept of State "Secure Borders/Open Doors" Advisory Committee and Administration Transition Task Force for Homeland Security.
Roth is a Fellow in the American College of Emergency Physicians. He graduated from George Washington University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C. in 1976 and completed his Family Practice Residency in 1979 at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine. He completed a B.S. in 1969 and an M.S. (Biology) in 1972, both at Fairleigh Dickinson University.
"We are excited that Paul has accepted the position of Chair-Elect," said Jed Fanning, incoming chairman of the Board. "He is a very effective leader and excels at managing challenges. He understands the economic role that the University of New Mexico must play in strengthening New Mexico's economy. I am glad that he will be alongside me in the coming year."
