Acting Provost Craig White has appointed Lawrence Roybal acting vice president for the Division of Equity and Inclusion (DEI) at The University of New Mexico. As acting vice president, Roybal will oversee the mission and day-to-day activities in the Division. The appointment is effective immediately.

For more than 30 years, Roybal has provided consistent leadership in a variety of roles at UNM including serving as the executive director of the ENLACE Statewide Collaborative, and as acting director of the LGBTQ Resource Center, a position he held since December 2016, and as a member of the DEI leadership team.

"I am honored to assume this key leadership role with the UNM Division for Equity & Inclusion," said Roybal. "I look forward to our collaboration with our many committed campus partners and community allies to advance our important diversity, equity, and inclusion endeavors." 

The DEL promotes equity for all members of the University community by leading efforts and building sustainable partnerships to transform the campus environment in addition to fostering inclusive excellence, promoting equity and advocating social justice.
