Running Medicine is celebrating 500 runs with people across New Mexico. The community-oriented running group, co-founded by UNMH family medicine doctor Anthony Fleg, is holding a celebration to mark the occasion and all are welcome to attend.
“At Running Medicine, we’re first and foremost about family and community,” Fleg said. “That’s why we’re inviting everyone out to mark this occasion with us. We’re based in the understanding that exercise is medicine for the mind, body and spirit and we are ecstatic to be reaching this milestone.”
The celebration is happening Wednesday, July 3 from 5:45 to 7:30 p.m. at Old Town Farm/Bike-In Coffee (949 Montoya St. NW). There will be a run/bike/walk along the Bosque, open to all speeds, ages and ability levels.
In addition, there will be a low-cost bike repair booth, shoe sale and special guests. Participants are also encouraged to bring a dish to the ‘Food is Medicine’ potluck.
“It’s about community building and appreciating one another and all we have to offer each other,” Fleg concluded.
Running Medicine just started its summer season, with options for downtown and Westside/Rio Rancho meet-ups on Mondays and Wednesdays. Registration is free and can be found with the full schedule on the Running Medicine website.
