This week on New Mexico in Focus, veteran reporter Sam Donaldson sits down to assess the state of political journalism. Donaldson has spent 50 years covering wars and the White House, under a succession of presidents.

New Mexico PBS' one hour public affairs show New Mexico in Focus airs Fridays at 7 p.m. and Sundays at 7 a.m. on Channel 5.1. The show can also be seen on N.M. PBS Channel 9.1 on Saturdays at 5 p.m.

Also scheduled, a look at the continuing troubles in Sunland Park; what will the political landscape mean for same sex marriage legislation in the 2013 session, and the Albuquerque Public Schools' AVID program, the nationwide effort go get students in the "academic middle" on track for college.
