Dr. Joseph P. Sanchez, director of the UNM Spanish Colonial Research Center, presents a talk titled, Spanish Colonial Cartography and Our National Heritage, on Tuesday, April 4 at noon in the Waters Room at Zimmerman Library.

Since 1983, Sanchez has collected thousands of Spanish colonial maps and documents about North America and the Caribbean from the archives of Spain and Mexico. The SCRC collections have information for these regions beyond what other libraries contain.

Join Sanchez as he shares the stories the maps and documents tell about the little known Spanish side of our American saga. Learn more about English and American intrigue and intrusion in the lands first opened by the Spanish.

This event is sponsored by the Center for Southwest Research, UNM Library. It is free and open to the public.
