New Mexico in Focus looks at the search for the University of New Mexico's new president. Host Gene Grant interviews current president David Schmidly, who steps down at the end of his contract in June 2012. They will discuss Schmidly's time at UNM, including budget cuts and surviving the faculty's vote of no confidence. Schmidly talks about his plans for retirement and how he is helping university officials to find his successor.
KNME's one hour public affairs show New Mexico in Focus airs Fridays at 7 p.m. and Sundays at 6:30 a.m. on KNME, Channel 5.1. The show can also be seen on KNME's Digital Channel 9.1 on Saturdays at 5 p.m.
