UNM Student Health and Counseling (SHAC) offers free flu shots on Monday-Tuesday, Oct. 26-27 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the UNM SUB Atrium. The clinics are in honor of Raymond Plotkin, a UNM student who passed away from the H1N1 virus in 2009.

Plotkin’s parents established the initiative to encourage others to get their seasonal flu shots. A second “Take one for Raymond” flu shot initiative takes place Nov. 2-3 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the SUB Atrium. Those who wish to receive flu shots must be 18 years or older.

The current 2015/2016 flu vaccine offers protection against three viruses, the A/California/7/2009 (H1N1)pdm09-like virus, the A/Switzerland/9715293/2013 (H3N2)-like virus, and the B/Phuket/3073/2014-like virus.

For more information about the flu shots, visit SHAC or contact the SHAC Immunization Clinic at (505) 277-7925.
