It looks like the Lead and Coal Boulevard construction projects recently started by the City of Albuquerque are having quite an impact on traffic using University Boulevard. Because of this, the shuttle service between UNM's Main Campus and South Campus Parking Lot are experiencing delays. Members of the UNM Community who park at South Lot are asked to allow for extra time to get to their appointments and classes due to this impact, and to exercise caution when driving in the construction zone.
Remember, cyclists are also riding in the area and construction might push them closer to the vehicle lanes, so please keep an extra eye out for them as well. Cyclists have been encouraged by the City of Albuquerque to avoid Lead and Coal for the duration of the project.
The Lead and Coal Boulevard improvement project is expected to end in the spring of 2012. For daily updates on the status of the project, visit Lead and Coal Improvement Project.
