One of the greatest benefits The University of New Mexico offers staff is the ability to pursue education through tuition remission or professional development activities. To assist staff in taking advantage of this benefit, the Staff Council Student Success Committee is hosting Staff as Students virtual events.

The Staff as Students initiative provides UNM staff the opportunity to learn about and courses to develop professionally and personally. Staff can learn about services regarding admission, registration, tuition remission benefit and advisement.

Each weekday starting Monday, April 5 through Friday, April 9, there will be two lunchtime Zoom sessions in place of the traditional Staff as Students event held in the SUB. Each session will have a different school or department presenting. Click here to see the detailed schedule of presenters.

Early registration for admitted students
Starting March 29, staff who are already admitted to UNM can send an email, from their @unm.edu email account, to Dept_Update-L@list.unm.edu to request that Records and Registration configure their account to enable Early Registration.

The email must include:

  • Staff member’s full name
  • Staff member’s UNM ID #
  • Confirmation if requesting registration on the 2021 Summer Term
  • Confirmation if requesting registration on the 2021 Fall Term

When the request has been completed, confirmation will be provided by REPLY to the sender.

The early registration access becomes available at 8:00 a.m. on April 5 and will end at midnight on April 12.

Applications for incoming students
Beginning March 29 through April 12, staff who are not yet admitted to UNM should submit an application.

Select “Mail In Payment” at the end of the application and submit. Then, email Deborah Kieltyka from your @unm.edu email account to request your Staff as Students fee waiver. Admissions supports those staff who want to participate in early registration but have not yet been admitted or require readmission to UNM.
