There’s going to be an active system on UNM’s main campus and around the Albuquerque Metro Area this weekend. In the forecast, Spring Storm and Fiestas 2016.
The annual events, sponsored by the Associated Students of UNM (ASUNM) Community Experience will kick-off on Saturday, April 16 with the Spring Storm—an event bringing in over 1,000 students, staff and faculty for a one-day service project on The University of New Mexico campus and around Albuquerque and Rio Rancho community areas. Volunteers check-in at the UNM Football Stadium beginning at 9:15 a.m. and are assigned to various sites where they will work until 2 p.m.
“This is a great way to make a difference in our community,” says Eliseo ‘Cheo’ Torres, vice president for Student Affairs, and regular Spring Storm participant. “I am always impressed with the number of students who participate and the amount of work that is accomplished in a short amount of time.”
The day concludes with the Fiestas on Johnson Field. Games, live music and prizes make the Fiestas the perfect culminating celebration for the great work accomplished by the UNM volunteers.
