The ASUNM Community Experience will host its annual Spring Storm event on Saturday, April 23, beginning at 9 a.m. with check-in at University Stadium. Spring Storm is volunteer event where numerous UNM students, staff and faculty participate in the one-day service project. Breakfast will be provided for participants who then fan out across Albuquerque to work on various projects. This event offers a fun way of giving back to Albuquerque through a massive volunteer force.
After three and half hours of volunteer work everyone can head over to Johnson Field for Fiestas 2011, an annual event featuring musical and cultural performances. The Fiestas are a free concert held from 12:30 until 9 p.m. Two different stages will feature musical and cultural performances.
• 9:45 - 10:30 a.m. – Check-in at UNM Football Stadium
o Assign Community Service Projects
• 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. – Community Service
o Report to Various Sites Around Albuquerque
• 2 – 9 p.m. – Fiestas
o Free Lunch
o Live Music
o Prizes/Raffle Drawing!
The concert's musical line-up includes Twista, Flosstradomas, Ryanhood, The Radar Bros, Danielle Ate the Sandwich and The winner of Battle of the Bands. The concert also includes cultural performances including Capoeira, Ballet Folklórico, Belly Dancers, Didgeridoo, Okinawan Dancers and Mariachi Performance.
