Staff as Students is a biannual event hosted by The University of New Mexico Staff Council that promotes the personal and professional development of UNM staff by making use of their tuition remission benefits. The Staff as Students spring event is set for Monday, April 3 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in SUB Ballrooms A and B.
Incentives for staff include waived application fees, expedited paperwork processing and admission, registration and advisement services. It is a communal event for staff to network and get acquainted with opportunities like professional development courses, degree programs and distance education.
UNM Staff are eligible to use tuition remission on the following applicable courses:

Staff who would like to register but are unable to attend the event should use their @unm.edu email account to message @DEPT_Update-L@list.unm.edu beginning March 27. The email should include the staff member’s name, term for which they wish to register (Summer/Fall/both) and their UNM ID. Staff who attend Staff as Students in person will be the first to get their overrides. Those who email will receive their overrides after the in-person event.
Representatives in attendance of Staff as Students will be the Office of Admissions, Office of the Registrar, Center for Academic Program Support (CAPS), Continuing Education, Employee and Organizational Development (EOD), Children’s Campus, and more advisors from various colleges, programs and departments. Staff will have a chance to enter a raffle for one of three $25 Lobo Cash gift cards if they visit at least four department booths.
The High Desert Therapy Dogs will also be at the event.
