An open house hosted by Science Technology Engineering and Math Undergraduate Pathways (STEM UP), a cooperative grant, will host an open house for the new transfer center at Central New Mexico Community College's Main Campus on Wednesday, Nov. 14 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. The public is invited to visit the information table and tour the center at the corner of the SRC grass area and L Building. Advisors, tutors, and peer mentors will be available to offer information, refreshments and door prizes.
The transfer center is a valuable resource for students pursuing STEM degrees at CNM and planning on transferring to UNM. The transfer center will offer STEM specific academic advising, individualized tutoring, workshops, peer mentoring, transfer assistance, and degree and STEM career information. This new center will support the pathway between CNM and UNM, and will help students transferring to UNM.
The CNM/UNM STEM UP Cooperative provides services and resources to undergraduate CNM and UNM students with the goal of increasing the number of Hispanic and low-income students attaining degrees in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. Another goal is to develop model transfer articulation agreements in STEM fields between CNM and UNM.
STEM UP is a Title V grant, funded for five years in the amount of $3.5 million by the Department of Education and authorized under Title III, Part F, section 371 of the Higher Education Act of 1965 as amended, Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSI) STEM and Articulation Program Cooperative.
