Straus Named Distinguished Professor

Lawrence Guy Straus has been named the Leslie Spier Distinguished Professor of Anthropology. He is the fourth person to hold the chair, which is the oldest named chair in the College of Arts and Sciences. 

The chair was held previously by James Spuler, Lewis Binford and Jane Buikstra.

Straus, who is also the editor of the Journal of Anthropological Research, recently published his 18th book, "El Mirón Cave: The Site and its Holocene Archaeological Record" with Manuel Gonzalez Morales. The book is available at UNM Press.
