For 11 years BeKind UNM Week has thrived as a University tradition encompassing students, staff and faculty across campus.

The Division of Student Affairs has partnered with the UNM BeKind Committee to celebrate and promote kindness on campus Feb. 10-14.

Different events are scheduled throughout the week, including the Kindness Carnival that is back by popular demand. The carnival is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12,  inside the SUB Atrium. This year, the Jennifer Riordan Foundation and the City of Albuquerque will join in on the fun along with games, music, kindness goodies, therapy dogs and more.

The event also features a teddy bear toss—part of a larger teddy bear drive—where participants are asked to bring a new bear to toss at a target that benefits the Albuquerque Police Department and Albuquerque Fire and Rescue. First responders use the bears to give to children in traumatic situations.

Teddy bear donations can also be made during a half-time bear toss at the Lobo Women’s Basketball game on Wednesday, Feb. 12, and the Men’s Lobo Basketball game on Saturday, Feb. 15.

In addition to the carnival, a Fill It Forward event sponsored by Nusenda Credit Union and Satellite Coffee will take place Thursday, Feb. 13. It's an opportunity for people to receive a free refill of regular coffee from Satellite Coffee (UNM SUB location only), and make a donation to benefit the Lobo Food Pantry
