The holidays can be a rough time for some of our Lobos and some might not have enough to eat. Each year, the Division of Student Affairs hosts a holiday drive to benefit a different organization or charity in our community. This year, the Division is happy to host a food and toiletry drive for our own UNM Campus Food Pantry.

The drive is underway and runs through Friday, Dec. 13, with donation locations around campus including Student Affairs, Scholes Hall 229; Career Services, UAEC Building 85, room 220; Student Health and Counseling, UNM Building 73; and UNM Honors College, Building 76.

While many students are familiar with the Lobo Mobile Food Pantry which is held on a monthly basis in the South Parking Lot, some might not be aware that there is now a food pantry right in the heart of main campus in the University Advisement and Enrichment Center Room B70. It’s open to all students with a current Lobo ID on Mondays from 1:30 – 3:30 p.m., and Thursdays from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (Thursday hours are not held when there is a Friday Mobile Food pantry the same week).

While the Campus Food Pantry does take donations all year long, they are currently in need of the following items to help out with the holiday season: non-perishable foods including ramen noodles, macaroni and cheese, pasta, pasta sauce, bagged dry rice, crackers, non-refrigerated drinks, nuts, and individually wrapped granola bars.  They are also in need of toiletries including hotel-sized soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, dish soap, hand soap, and detergent.

For more information or a complete list of donatable items, visit the Campus Lobo Food Pantry website.
