The Associated Students of University of New Mexico’s (ASUNM) Southwest Film Center Cherry Reel deadline is on Wednesday, Oct. 9 for students to submit their own personal work for their annual Canon Sponsored Cherry Reel Film Festival.
ASUNM’s Southwest Film Center is a student-led organization dedicated to bringing UNM student to the best arthouse, experimental, foreign, cult and independent cinema. However, they are most well-known for showcasing student films specifically at their Canon Sponsored Cherry Reel Film Festival.
Cherry Reel Film Festival is a renowned event at UNM that features student work and has garnered the attention of big corporations like Canon. Submissions for the event are currently open.
Films must be submitted form an undergraduate student. The work can be from any year regardless of it being made in a class or outside of a class. Submitting student bust be either the writer, director, producer or editor. All other submitting positions will not be accepted.
The total runtime may not exceed 15 minutes and must be submitted in an appropriate media format—either .MOV, .MP4, .WMV, .AVI, MPEG OR MPEG2.
Submissions will be shown at the newly revamped 3-day Cherry Reel Event on the weekend of Nov. 22 through Nov. 24. The grand prize winner will receive a Canon sponsored prize.
