Tamarind Institute hosts its family-friendly summer celebration, Color Fest, on Saturday, July 16 from 4 – 6 p.m. Enjoy the colorful exhibition, Color Coded, featuring new lithographs by David X. Levine, Matt Magee, Susan York and Jonathan Seliger; as well as the debut of new lithographs by SCUBA, the playful Santa Fe-based, artist-duo.

In the workshop, Tamarind Master Printer Brandon Gunn will conduct two demonstrations of the “rainbow roll” process. And, if that’s not enough, concoct your own refreshing “rainbow blend” of cool-aid in our sunny courtyard. Families and individuals are invited to attend part or all of the festivities.

The public is invited. A full schedule of events is available at Tamarind Institute.

Meet Santa Fe-based, artist-duo Sandra Wang and Crockett Bodelson of SCUBA. Tamarind became interested in SCUBA during their Ice Shelf tour, in which they drove a solar-powered and biodiesel-capable mobile gallery across the country. More recently SCUBA contributed to the epic playground installation known as Meow Wolf in Santa Fe, the work of an artist collective that grew to 135 artists. Works by SCUBA have been exhibited worldwide, and in Santa Fe at institutions such as James Kelly Contemporary, Center for Contemporary Arts, and SITE Santa Fe.

Tamarind will release new editions by SCUBA, a series of prints incorporating hand-colored collage elements. The new prints forge a traditional medium with their uniquely playful approach, bringing another layer of complexity to the already multifaceted collaborative. SCUBA will talk about these new works from 5 to 5:30 p.m. at Tamarind on July 16.

Tamarind Master Printer Brandon Gunn demonstrates the blend roll process, also known as the "rainbow roll," in which multiple colors are applied to the roller, and transferred onto a single matrix. The demonstration will take place at 4:30 and 5:30 p.m.
