The University of New Mexico College of Fine Arts is hosting its annual ArtsUnexpected event live all day on Friday, April 22, 2022, at various locations on-campus and is seeking participants.

ArtsUnexpected gives CFA students an opportunity to share their talents with the broader UNM and Albuquerque community. This event will feature the work of student artists thorough pop-up performances, showings, exhibitions, and markets taking place around UNM’s campus. This pop-up showcase features student artists including filmmakers, dancers, thespians, visual artists, and musicians of every variety performing and showcasing their works of art throughout campus.

See the video from the last ARTSUnexpected in 2019.

Those who would like to participate in ArtsUnexpected can fill out the participant form. The deadline for proposals is Friday, April 1, by midnight.

The proposal should include what type of event you are proposing (visual art, performance, dance, theatre, music, poetry, etc.); a proposed location for the event; and the start and end time.

Any CFA student, student organization or class can submit a performance or exhibition proposal.

Any location on campus is fair game. The goal of this event is to show the broader UNM and Albuquerque community what CFA students can do. Events should take place in public spaces on UNM’s campus such as in building lobbies like libraries and outdoor spaces such as Smith Plaza or the Duck Pond.

• UNM Art Museum

• Center for the Arts (CFA) Lobby

• The Fine Arts Library, Zimmerman or Centennial

• Lobbies throughout campus

• Duck Pond

• Smith Plaza

• Biology Building Greenhouse.

• Yale and Harvard Corridors

ArtsUnexpected will take place on Friday, April 22, beginning at 10 a.m. A schedule of events will be available soon.
