The University of New Mexico School of Architecture & Planning hosts a public lecture by Samantha Edwards-Vandenhoek on Friday, July 22 from 3-4 p.m. in the auditorium at George Pearl Hall, located at Central and Stanford NE, on the UNM campus.

Edwards-Vandenhoek is a design researcher, digital media artist and lecturer in communication design and photomedia. She also serves as academic director and senior lecturer at the Centre for Design Innovation, Swinburne University of Technology in Melbourne, Australia.

Her lecture, “This is my country, I’m painting here,” explores the role of public art and participatory design in building resilience and place-making in the Warmun Aboriginal community in East Kimberley Western Australia.

The event is free and open to the public.
