A number of programs and schools at The University of New Mexico were ranked among the country’s best in the 2020 US News & World Report graduate school rankings released today.
U.S. News & World Report, the global authority in education rankings, unveiled the 2020 Best Graduate Schools evaluating universities across six major disciplines including business, education, engineering, law, medicine and nursing.
The UNM School of Medicine was ranked No. 21 for Best Medical Schools: Primary Care, No. 78 for Best Medical Schools: Research, and No. 8 in Family Medicine. In the College of Nursing, the Nursing-Midwifery program is ranked No. 7, the Master of Science of Nursing program is No. 77, while the Doctor of Nursing Practice program is ranked No. 81. Other ranked programs include: Occupational Therapy (No. 44) and Pharmacy (No. 44).
The UNM School of Engineering ranks No. 85 this year. Last year, the School placed No. 83, rising from No. 99 the previous year. Among New Mexico schools of engineering, UNM was the only institution to rank in the top 100 in the survey.
Specialty programs in the SOE include No. 75 in chemical engineering, No. 89 in civil engineering, No. 73 in computer engineering, No. 72 in electrical engineering, No. 87 in mechanical engineering, and No. 13 in nuclear engineering. A new ranking for this year for UNM is environmental engineering, where UNM ranked No. 67. Computer science is ranked with the Best Science schools at No. 75.
The UNM School of Law tied for No. 91 among the nation’s Best Law Schools. Specialty programs within the School included No. 15 (tie) in Clinical Training, No. 50 in Environmental Law, No. 60 in Trial Advocacy, No. 76 in Health Care Law, No. 86 in Tax Law.
Additionally, UNM had three programs ranked among the top-50 including the Photography program, which continues to be among the nation's elite at No. 5. Earth Sciences was No. 46 and Fine Arts was No. 48.
