UNM Championship Golf Club will host a local U.S. Open qualifier on Tuesday, April 30. The 18-hole qualifier will feature 61 players competing to move along the road to Pebble Beach.

This year’s qualifier in the Sun Country region will be the fourth qualifier that is conducted across the nation for the 2019 U.S. Open qualifying process.

Current Lobos participating in the tournament include Sean Carlon, Augustin Hole, Galvin Green, Jack Anderson, Skater Sivage, Wooyoung Choi, Sam Choi, Ignacio Arcaya and Sam Dickey.

Former Lobos include Gustavo Morantes, Sam Saunders, Alex Estrada, Dylan Healy and current Lobo Men’s Golf Coach Glen Millican.

The event, administrated by local U.S. Golf Association committee members and the Sun Country Amateur Golf Association, will send four qualifiers on to sectional level qualifying later next month. From there, qualifiers will make their way to Pebble Beach, Calif. for the 119th U.S. Open at the Pebble Beach Golf Links, June 13-16.

Tee times will begin at 8:00 a.m. off of both the first and tenth tees and run through 9:40 a.m.

The Championship Golf Course
Since it was officially opened in 1967, The Championship Golf Course has been one of the finest facilities of its kind nationwide. Long and tough from the tournament tees — par 72, 7,555-yard course — The Championship Golf Course offers six sets of tee markers to challenge and enhance the enjoyment of any golfer. The Championship Golf Course boasts fairways that stretch out long and wide on hilly terrain that undulates up and down, right and left - all factors that make it difficult to reach the rolling, well-manicured greens. Stray shots often land in the rough, loose desert sand, water or sagebrush.
