The University Libraries Centennial Science & Engineering Library (CSEL) has opened its annual Science Haiku Contest, in celebration of National Poetry Month, inviting all members of the UNM community to participate.

The contest, designed to celebrate creativity and scientific inspiration, calls for original haikus centered on themes relevant to science and engineering. Participants are encouraged to submit their entries either in-person at Centennial Science & Engineering Library or online at goto.unm.edu/csel-haiku-24.

Entries will be accepted until midnight on Sunday, April 21. Participants may submit multiple haikus to increase their chances of winning. The judging criteria will be based on creativity, adherence to correct haiku form, and incorporation of scientifically accurate themes.

A panel of esteemed faculty members will select the winning haiku, which will be announced via email to the winner. The grand prize includes a STEM-themed magnetic poetry kit, perfect for fostering further creativity and scientific exploration.

Selected entries will also be featured on the UNM Libraries' social media channels to celebrate National Poetry Month. For more information and to submit your haiku, please visit goto.unm.edu/csel-haiku-24.
