The University Library system is encouraging the UNM community to come together in support of furry friends. Starting on Oct. 24–Nov. 7 donation boxes will be located in Zimmerman Library, Centennial Science and Engineering Library, Fine Arts and Design Library and Parish Memorial Library.

The boxes are set-up to collect canned dog and cat food, pet collars, leashes, dog toys, towels, paper towels, shampoo and other pet related items.

The collected items will be donated to a Ramah, New Mexico dog rescue group, Homeless to Hopeful NM Rez Dog Rescue. The dog rescue is a non-profit, no-kill animal shelter committed to restoring rescue dogs to health and placing them in loving homes.

Community members can also find out more about this group during the Library’s Cuddle a Canine event on Oct. 25 and on the Rescue’s website.
