Veterans Day Ceremony
As part of its Veterans Day celebration, UNM honors its veterans with the Posting and Raising of the Colors ceremony.

The University of New Mexico honors its veterans and military service members on Veterans Day, Wednesday, Nov. 11 with a Formal Flag Ceremony by the UNM Joint Service ROTC Color Guard at 9 a.m. within the Alumni Memorial Chapel.

UNM President Robert Frank will give the opening remarks. A moment of silence will be held at 10:15 a.m. for reading of the names of New Mexico Veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice during Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom.

The guest speaker will be Paul Roth, CEO of UNM Health System and Dean of UNM School of Medicine, who will share with the UNM community what Veterans Day means to him. Reflections on Veterans Day will be provided by a few additional speakers. “Oh Danny Boy” will be performed by Shannon Wilson at 10:45 a.m.

On Tuesday, Nov. 10 the Student Veterans of UNM (SVUNM) will hold a Veteran Awareness/Appreciation Fair with participation by many organizations from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Student Union Building (SUB), Ballroom B.

SVUNM will also be conducting the Mile of Coins outside the SUB on UNM’s Smith Plaza to raise funds for Healing America’s Heroes and The New Mexico Autism Society.

This is a great opportunity for UNM and New Mexico communities to partner together to help a great cause. Parking for anyone interested in attending the Nov. 10 event is available at the Lomas Parking Structure on the corner of Lomas and Yale Boulevards.
