The University of New Mexico Alumni Association is inviting all full-time faculty and staff who are alumni to the annual Homecoming Faculty & Staff Luncheon from noon to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 27 in the SUB Ballroom. This year, faculty and staff are asked to bring items for a table decorating contest.
Space is limited to the first 300 guests. Tickets will be given out in advance at the Homecoming Kickoff Rally from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 25 in the Karen A. Abraham Courtyard at Hodgin Hall Alumni Center. You must have a Lobo ID to receive a ticket as reservations will not be accepted over the phone.
In addition to celebrating the contributions and accomplishments of alumni who are faculty and staff of the University, the Alumni Association will be collecting nonperishable food items and protein packs Monday, Sept. 25, through Friday, Sept. 29 in support of The Storehouse as part of the eighth annual Homecoming Community Service Project.
The UNM Alumni Association will collect items at:
- Hodgin Hall Alumni Center – 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Sept. 25 to Friday, Sept. 29
- Homecoming Kickoff Rally – 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 25
- Faculty & Staff Alumni Luncheon – noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 27
Those who donate at least two items at the UNM Alumni Association’s Faculty & Staff Alumni Luncheon will receive a 2017 commemorative UNM Homecoming pin.
In 2016, the Storehouse fed 50,000 people and nearly 1.4 million meals were distributed for free. More than 14 percent of New Mexicans don’t know where their next meal will come from and the state is ranked No. 2 in childhood hunger—1 out of every 4 children in New Mexico is hungry.
