The Department of Labor has announced new overtime regulations that go into effect on Dec. 1. Is your organization ready?

If not, The Anderson School of Management at The University of New Mexico is offering two programs to help organizations clear up the confusion around the new regulations.

On Tuesday, June 28 Human Resource Legal Advisor Alice Kilborn, presents "HR Straight Talk". The half day morning event begins at 8 a.m. and is intended to help professionals from management and human resources understand the implications of the new overtime regulations and take steps to assure compliance. Kilborn will discuss the scope of the Overtime Rule and outline both its immediate and long-term implications. She will also discuss HR strategies which include: Classifying employees, Communicating with employees, Managing change, and Advising senior leadership.

Organizations have less than six months to become compliant. UNM Anderson developed the program to give HR professionals and business leaders a sense of the impact the ruling will create.

"We want to make sure participants walk away with a list of steps they can take to become compliant," says Audrey Arnold, Director of the Executive & Professional Education Center (EPEC) at the Anderson School.

On Thursday, July 14 Kilborn will discuss "Financing the DOL Overtime Rule" as part of an evening presentation. This program is specifically geared toward accountants and other financial professionals.

"The new overtime regulation is an opportunity for many financial firms" says EPEC Program Director, Bruncha Milaszewski. "Their clients are going to be in need of keen guidance, and this program will help these professionals speak to their client base."

Both programs will take place at the Jackson Student Center at UNM Anderson. The cost to attend each one is $195 and they are eligible for three SHRM PDUs.
