Although it’s not quite the celebration, pomp and circumstance of the traditional commencement, The University of New Mexico will once again host a virtual ceremony due to COVID-19 precautions in recognizing the incredible accomplishments of the Fall 2020 class. It will be broadcast live on Facebook and YouTube on Friday, Dec. 11 at 6 p.m.

More than 1,500 students are projected to receive degrees from UNM’s Albuquerque and Extended University campuses, as follows: 1,119 bachelor’s degrees, 300 master’s degrees, 60 doctorates, 14 Juris doctorates, 12 medical doctorates and 24 graduate certificates.

At UNM-Gallup, 84 associate degrees and 33 certificates are projected to be awarded; at Los Alamos, 23 associate degrees; at Taos, 13 associate degrees and 8 certificates; and at Valencia, 27 associate degrees and 18 certificates.

From personalized graduation pages to videos from supporters around the world, the Fall 2020 Lobo Grad Stream will recognize every fall 2020 graduate from The University of New Mexico.

“Commencement is a life experience – a genuine rite of passage,” said UNM President Garnett S. Stokes. “Please know that all members of the Class of 2020 – Spring, Summer and Fall graduates – will be invited to participate in an in-person commencement, but only know when we can safely host such a large event.”
