The UNM Center for Teaching Excellence (CTE) is accepting nominations for its 2014-15 annual Teaching Awards. Sponsored by the CTE and the Faculty Senate Teaching Enhancement Committee, who selects the recipients, the teaching awards recognize UNM’s outstanding educators.
Each year the Faculty Senate Teaching Enhancement Committee selects the recipients for a variety of campus-wide teaching awards. Awardees are selected following a nomination and dossier-review process.

The nomination deadline is Friday, Feb. 6, 2015. Names of nominees may also be sent to CTE (MSC06 3695 or firstname.lastname@example.org) or to fill out a nomination form, visit UNM 2015 Teaching Awards.
Presidential Teaching Fellow – promotes excellence in teaching by establishing a core group of faculty who are given the highest recognition for their effective teaching. All tenured faculty are eligible.
Outstanding Teacher of the Year Award
The Outstanding Teacher of the Year Award – recognizes and rewards teaching excellence and fosters a campus climate that supports teaching improvement and accomplishment. Multiple recipients may be selected for this monetary award. Nominations can be made by colleagues, students, or alumni. All tenured faculty, clinician educators and professors of practice are eligible.
New Teacher of the Year Awards – recognizes the accomplished educators who are recent additions to the UNM faculty prior to the achievement of tenure. All pre-tenure, tenure-track assistant professors are eligible.
Online Teacher of the Year Award – acknowledges and rewards teaching excellence and fosters a campus climate that supports teaching improvement and accomplishment in the arena of online and distance education. All lecturers, clinician educators, tenure-track and tenured faculty, and formally appointed adjunct faculty who have already completed three semesters of online teaching are eligible.
Lecturer or Affiliated Teacher of the Year Award – recognizes the contributions to UNM’s teaching mission by consistently employed, non-tenure-track faculty. All faculty in non-tenure eligible positions (e.g., Lecturer, Instructor, Part-time temporary faculty, Visiting Professor, Adjunct faculty) who have taught at least four sections per year (including summer sessions) during a minimum of three consecutive years at UNM are eligible for this award.
Susan Deese-Roberts Outstanding Teaching Assistant – recognizes and rewards teaching achievements of graduate students. Awards All current teaching assistants are eligible.
