UNM Completes Duck Pond Maintenance

The ducks and turtles were enjoying the sun and the newly cleaned duck pond area today. The UNM grounds crew spent spring break cleaning and maintaining the duck pond.
The cleaning required the relocation of ducks and fish while debris was removed from the pond, but the fish and wild ducks are now back.
The grounds crew has added a colorant to the water to reduce algae growth. The colorant was used, rather than chemicals, so that the fish would not be harmed. The colorant will disperse and the pond will return to its normal color within a few days.
