The importance of compliance and ethics in higher education and raising awareness of related issues is of paramount importance to The University of New Mexico. To that end, UNM joins other organizations across campus to celebrate Compliance Week Nov. 7-11.
During the week, UNM, in collaboration with the UNM Health Sciences Center (HSC), will host daily events to spread awareness about compliance and ethics on campus. The theme for this year’s compliance week is “Advancing Ethics and Compliance,” which underscores the importance of Compliance Week at UNM.
Compliance Week promotes a campus-wide ethical culture and reminds the campus community that each of us has a stake to help ensure a healthy workplace. As part of the weeklong effort, participants will have multiple opportunities to learn, meet compliance partners, and share their thoughts on how ethical conduct looks to them.
“Ethics and Compliance week helps us focus on conducting UNM business in a manner that moves the Lobo community forward,” said Chief Compliance Officer Francie Cordova. “In the words of MLK, 'The time is always right, to do what is right.'”
A Compliance Week preview will be held on Thursday and Friday, Nov. 3-4. A scavenger hunt starting at noon on Nov. 3 opens the preview. As part of the hunt, questions will be asked on partner websites. Individuals with correct answers will be put into a drawing for prizes. Winners will be announced on Monday, Nov. 14.
Additionally, information will be featured on social media highlighting Compliance and Internal Audit (Nov. 3), and Athletics and the Policy Office (Nov. 4)
