The National Association of Educational Procurement (NAEP) recently announced the recipients of the 2021 NAEP National Awards. Among the winners is UNM Chief Procurement Officer Bruce Cherrin.

Cherrin was presented with the 2021 Distinguished Service Award, recognizing extraordinary service to an institution, the higher education community, NAEP, and to the purchasing profession at a regional or national level.

Two of Cherrin’s staff nominated him for an award because of his amazing work across higher education procurement.

“I was both surprised and honored to receive the award. Much thanks goes to the administration here at UNM that has allowed innovation to take place,” said Cherrin

Cherrin was also elected the board of the NAEP, serving as District Vl Board Member, representing NAEP members in the northwest, Pacific and Rocky Mountain states and in three Canadian provinces. He has served as UNM’s Chief Procurement Officer since 1992.

The newly-elected National Board members will be introduced in an upcoming informal session. This session is an open dialogue and an opportunity to engage with the National Board, share feedback, and ask questions. The NAEP Board will also announce the results of the new Chair, Vice-Chair, and Treasurer.
